Getting your own bespoke hand-thrown, hand-made pottery is a wonderful experience. No one else will have a piece like it.
Here's a simple step-by-step guide to questions you need to answer in order to get exactly what you're looking for.
Step 1
Decide what piece(s) you're looking for
I hand-throw and hand-build all my pieces on the wheel - everything from plates to jugs, with bowls and even teapots in between.
The chances are, if you've got this far, you've already seen my work and the sort of things I make. But it's all here on this page, just in case!
Everything is made to order, which means you get to choose the size and shape.
No two pieces are identical - items in the same category will be the same size (eg. plates and bowls will stack), but just like us humans we all have our small foibles. Perfectly imperfect, or imperfectly perfect, whichever way you want to look at it.
All my pieces are food and dishwasher safe. They're not for cooking on the stove or in the oven, but they'll handle a short burst in the microwave to warm up a coffee or heat some plates for lunch.
Step 2
Decide what finish you'd like
So you've decided on the shape and size, now it's time to think about colour.
Everything I make is glazed, dishwasher proof and food safe.
The colour can come either from slip, which is liquid coloured clay applied before the first firing, or from glazes which are applied before the second firing.
Here are some examples.

Examples of glaze finishes
Generally speaking, glazing takes slightly longer, because I need to apply three coats by hand to give a rich finish, and as you can imagine, that affects the price.
Step 3
Talk to me!
It's always good to talk! We can talk through your requirements, and I can give you some advice, based on my experience.
